RESTAURANT & bar

The Best of Regional Cuisine
Hearty buckwheat pancakes slathered with coveted Bumthang honey or wild strawberry jam; dark noodles, heavy with fiber and zero-preservatives, regional red rice, Swiss-variety potatoes famous in the region and the heavenly cheeses of Bumthang are happy jump off points for daily culinary adventures into the flavor profiles of Bhutan’s beloved central region.

Make a flavorsome foray into the food culture of Bhutan with our interesting series of regional favorites. Try our hearty buckwheat pancakes with hand-gathered honey from local farms or puta, the fibre-rich noodles of the Jakar Valley. For those with adventurous palates, the mushroom infused twist on the fiery national dish, Ema Datsi, is accompanied with red rice and jambuley gnocchi. From fresh farm-sourced local cheese, seasonal fruits and vegetables, lean meat and freshwater fish, we offer healthy, hearty and nutritious meals that are sure to please. Also, if you’re lucky, you may be the lucky beneficiary of Ashi’s occasional and much-loved “Bumthang Pizza” made from scratch with the gooey goodness of ripe Gouda with fresh sprigs of cilantro and chili-flakes.

TRADITIONAL HOT STONE BATHS
Traditional “hot-stone” baths or Doh-Tso have long been part of Bhutanese healing traditions. According to indigenous lore, the combination of smooth river boulders “cooked” in high heat releases healing minerals into the bath which are then enhanced by mug wort and other medicinal herbs – just one of the ways you can unwind after your cultural explorations. Baths are limited and advance appointments are recommended. We have two on the rooftop, on an open balcony where you can enjoy evening lights twinkling across the valley, or two inside, for the more privacy-minded. Take a soak and enjoy the benefits.

MULTIPURPOSE HALL
Has a daily self-guided yoga or meditation practice our multipurpose hall, just down the corridor from the Spa and Wellness wing has hosted Buddhist teachings, yoga practice and other events. Let us know in advance if you’d like to reserve it for your event or private self-guided practice or session
